With the War
on Terrorism, there have been many, many missions flown by the USN
F-14's.... providing much needed air support.
This
particular decal sheet provides markings for 3 of these F-14's. This
decal sheet features three F-14's that were operating over Afghanistan
during Operation Enduring Freedom.
The first
plane is an F-14A #162608 CAG Bird called "Anna" with VF-41 on
the USS Enterprise. This plane has special markings for "The
Last Tomcat Cruise" on it's vertical stabilizers.
This jet has
red on the tips of the vertical stabilizers as well as other high
visibility markings. These include a large white, black and red
"Ace of Spades" playing card on the vertical stabilizers.
Also this Tomcat has a black anti-glare panel around and in front of it's
canopy. The various rescue markings and ejection triangles by the
canopy on the side of the fuselage are also in red.
The second plane is an
F-14A plane #158612 called "Delores" with
VF-41 off the USS Enterprise. This plane is
also an Afghan War Hero.
This plane has a low viz 2 tone gray paint scheme with black
highlights in the paint scheme.
The third plane is an
F-14A plane #161856 called "Lauren" with VF-41 off the USS Enterprise. This plane is
also an Afghan War Hero.
This plane has a low viz 2 tone gray paint scheme with black
highlights in the paint scheme as the second plane on this decal sheet.
The decals themselves are
clearly printed in perfect register. The clear carrier film around
the decals is at a minimum, so this should give the best results.
The colors are solid and should give perfect coverage without any worry of
underlying paint showing through.
The 3 pages of instruction
provide all the information you'll need to complete either of these plane
and include FS#'s. All in all, this is an excellent
decal sheet and one that is sure to be popular with the many fans of the
F-14. I highly recommend this decal sheet to all F-14 modelers or anyone
wanting to capture the history that is currently unfolding around us.
I would like to
thank Meteor Productions for
providing me with this review sample.
